Flameworking/lampworking/torchworking is the method by which glass is heated and manipulated over a small, high-temperature flame. It is similar to furnace working in that the properties of the glass are, more or less, the same but the scale and level of detail of the final product often set the two apart.
A key difference in terms of creating a studio for flameworking is that it does not require the large molten furnace and thus the overhead costs and spacial needs drop off dramatically. As such, many flameworkers are able to set up studios in their basements and garages.
At Ghost Pepper Glass, we seek to offer the space and equipment to realize almost anything in glass. While our priority will be to set up the Hot Shop and Cold Shop upon opening, flameworking and other equipment will soon follow.
