Welcome To Ghost Pepper Glass

Ghost Pepper Glass has finally received permission from the City of Austin to operate! We will be hosting a GRAND OPENING PARTY at our studio on Saturday September 29th, from 2-8pm.

For those interested in having a first experience in glass or taking private lessons, please see our reservations page.  For private events or those interested in renting our studio to make their own glasswork, please contact ghostpepperglass@gmail.com.

Anyone else interested in exploring glass here at GPG is whole-heartedly encouraged to get in contact with us to express the nature of that interest as we will aim to diversify the studio and its offerings based on your needs and those of the community.

About

Ghost Pepper Glass is a brand new, public glassblowing studio on the near east side of Austin, Texas.  After over 10 years of traveling the world, working in glass, Ghost Pepper Glass founder, Katie Plunkard, has settled into Austin and seeks to create an environment that caters to the most skilled artisan while inviting the most novice enthusiast.  Ghost Pepper Glass is, first and foremost, a space for artists and craftspeople to dream big and work together to create that which can only be made by hand.  We offer classes for absolute beginners, equipment rental for experienced professionals, a retail space for gift givers, and everything in between.  Whether you’re after a unique date night, team building exercise, field trip or private party, we have several tried and true programs but can also develop a customized scheme for your event.  If nothing else, we welcome you to stop in, say “hello” and watch us play with molten glass for a bit–but we cannot promise you won’t get hooked!

Classes

Ghost Pepper Glass offers a variety of classes for absolute beginners on up.  Friday and Saturday nights from 6pm-10pm we will host our “Taste of Glassblowing” classes where those with little or no experience can come in and make their very own souvenir with the help of an instructor.  Check out our “Classes” page for more info on these events as well as the private classes, multi-week courses, advanced student options and alternative glassmaking methods (flameworking, fusing, mosaics, etc.) that we offer.

Studio Rental

For those experienced in proper use and care of our various machines, we offer hourly rental of all equipment.  Regardless of experience, all renters must participate in a basic safety orientation with the equipment they wish to utilize.  Novice glass makers will need to participate in classes until being granted approval by their instructor for unsupervised use.  Check our “Studio Rental” page for specific rates and requirements.

Retail and Commissions

In addition to our studio spaces, Ghost Pepper Glass houses a small retail and gallery space with items for purchase.  Everything is handmade.  We invite you to come explore the wide range of items we offer.  If you don’t find exactly what you want, our team of glassmakers can work with you to create a custom piece.
