We are very excited to be participating again in the East Austin Studio Tour. Our hours will remain regular but we will have lots of glassmaking happening throughout the tour and brand new art works on display! STOPS 249 & 250
Join us September 6 from 6-9pm for the opening of “Rooted,” a series of new glass works by Lauren Hunt. We will also be featuring new paintings by resident artist, Michael W. Hall.
This weekend the Ghost Pepper Glass team will be participating in the Cherrywood Art Fair. Come visit our booth to see all the great gift-giving items we have been working on for you, this fall!
This month, we were honored to be featured in EASTside magazine! We had a ton of fun showing them what it is we have the pleasure of doing every day!
Next month we are excited to be apart of the East Austin Studio Tour (E.A.S.T.)! November 10-11 and 17-18 we will be hosting demonstrations, hands-on activities and complimentary beverages from 11am-6pm. Come check us out and be sure to make time to explore the rest of the tour!
Fall is finally here and, as such, we are ready to celebrate our new existence on the east side! Come join us for our Grand Opening Party! We will be showing off our skills with some crazy demonstrations on one side of the shop while we have hands-on activities for $55/person on the other side of the shop. Come watch us work, make your own glass item or just grab a beer, pet our shop dogs and play some lawn games! Admission is free but donations are greatly appreciated.
It has been a while now since we broke ground on the site that will be Ghost Pepper Glass and while a lot has happened in that time, there’s been a lot of stagnation as well. Various factors have caused delays–everything from hurricanes to miscommunications, from last-minute upgrades to the build-out plans by the property owner, to our site being pushed aside for other priorities (also by the property owner). I can honestly say that all delays were outside of my control but, fortunately, my team budgeted and planned for many worst-case scenarios and thus have been able to remain patient and optimistic.
While I have received countless timelines from the property owner and his contractors, only this last one seemed likely enough to pass along to our community. Finally, I feel that I can say with confidence, we will be opening the studio this coming January!
I will start to post more updates and pictures from here on out as the progress is happening rather quickly but for now I will start with one from a couple weeks back that made me laugh. Not sure how this sign ended up in front of our site but, as you can see, the plumbing is the least of our bathroom worries….
“BATHROOMS ARE OUT OF ORDER – So sorry 🙁 The entire building is having a problem with plumbing”
This caterpillar is about to undergo a whole lot of change before becoming Ghost Pepper Glass. This place will get stripped down to the studs and rebuilt to house our many distinct studio spaces as well as host a nice outdoor patio space. Ghost cannot wait until she gets to come to work with me everyday and get lots of belly rubs as the studio mascot!
The business plan has been finalized. The space has been leased. The financing has been secured. The building materials and equipment have been ordered.
This fall, Ghost Pepper Glass will be making its debut into the Austin scene–and soon after, Austin may start wondering how it ever kept itself weird without us!
Stay tuned for updates…
